Fun in the Sun for Milton Academy Athletes By Madeline

Fun in the Sun for Milton Academy Athlet...

Traditionally, Milton Academy’s spring sports teams travel south to enjoy the warm weather and sunny skies of Florida during their spring break trips. During each team’s week-long getaways, teammates and coaches work hard on the practice fields and compete in riveting games against other schools in preparation for their seasons. In addition, they enjoy the beaches, restaurants, and other tourist attractions that Florida has to offer! This 2015 spring break trip, the teams venture to several different Sunshine State cities. Girls’ softball and boys’ baseball will...
Learning at The Harkness Table By Deanna

Learning at The Harkness Table By Deanna

The Harkness table promotes a rich learning experience through dialogue, debate and discussion. This table is an amazing way to engage in an intellectual conversation because you can see everyone around you. I build strong relationships with my classmates as we share our own ideas and opinions. This learning style is a great way to connect with not only our classmates but our teachers as well. I like how our teachers sit around the table with us and participate in the discussion. The intimacy of the table allows me to feel like all of my ideas are heard. The Harkness table...
The Library By Rush

The Library By Rush

One aspect of Milton that I find particularly interesting is the use of the library by all of the students. On your tour you may have walked through the library but were certainly unable to get the full breadth of the library’s use. During scheduled free periods during the class week, students will often be found studying in the library. The library is also a social area where collective work is promoted. Having transferred my sophomore year to Milton, I am aware of how remarkable it is for all different types of students to continuously devout their time to studies in...
Winter Dance Concert By Adam

Winter Dance Concert By Adam

One of the most exciting events at Milton Academy–the Winter Dance Concert–takes place in early March.  The concert is essentially a production of numerous dances, almost entirely choreographed by students. As a spectator of the event for the past two years, I am confident these student dancers will do no less than amaze us once again with their flawless and fluid choreography on stage. It is not hard to admire great dancing, especially when a school like Milton gives you the opportunity to see it in the form of this concert. This year, I found out how...
EXAM WEEK CAN BE … FUN? By Yudaam

EXAM WEEK CAN BE … FUN? By Yudaam

We just finished two words that cause students nightmares: Exam Week. Despite the inevitable stress that comes with studying for these huge assessments, Milton tries its best to make Exam Week as (dare I say) enjoyable as possible. Each Milton exam only lasts for two hours. Students are exempt from regular activities, such as club meetings and assemblies, giving us the rest of the day to ourselves. So we only have, at most, 10 hours of school during Exam Week instead of our regular 42. We also have something that not even the most heartless could resist: a petting zoo!...
Student Bonds By Janice

Student Bonds By Janice

Here at Milton, students connect with each other on many different levels–educational, physical, or mental. The importance of student connection is highlighted in the students’ ability to come together and talk about common differences or similarities. Students are able to bond through books, current events, and other important topics. With these connections that the students have, Milton’s community continues to grow stronger due to new topics of discussion and new perspectives.   Personally, talking with Milton students has really opened my eyes to new...
