Swap-It Dance: A Great Milton Tradition

“Swap-it,” Milton Academy’s school-wide sale, is a 60-year annual tradition that remains one of the most highly anticipated events for the School’s community. On the day of the dance, the Swap-it doors open for all Upper School students to find the coolest hidden gems. We raid the sale for the best and craziest costumes in preparation for the dance that night. While some people buy wigs, dresses and hats, others search for leotards, costumes and collectables. The dance not only serves as a way to support the Milton community, it also serves as a way for the students to dress up and have a great time.

I look forward to Swap-it for the dance event, but I also like discovering great treasures during the sale. From Milton sports gear to Lilly Pulitzer dresses, Swap-it offers it all and for an affordable price too! The picture above captures some of the field hockey seniors, myself included to the far right, as we prepare to start enjoying our favorite dance of the year. Once in the dance, we were welcomed by flashing disco lights and loud music, which made for a great time. DJ Pup Dawg (from Boston’s JAM’N 94.5) made a guest appearance that was unforgettable. With his cool mixes and taste in music, DJ Pup Dawg added to the atmosphere and energy that makes the Swap-it Dance thrive. After a full three hours of dancing, costume comparing, and singing with friends, I was tired after a long night of fun. Though as a senior, this was my last Swap-it Dance, nothing will keep me away from the bargains and deals in the years to come! Until next year!
