3 Months, 21 Days By Marcus

Being from NYC, I hardly get the opportunity to reflect in silence and to appreciate the sights and sounds of the environment. As a junior, there are opportunities to go to semester or year-long programs. For three months, I attended the Chewonki Semester School in Wiscasset, Maine. In addition to making 40 new friends and learning about sustainability and the environment, I learned to appreciate simple everyday moments such as spotting seemingly phantasmal deer to terrifying raccoons. For three months, I walked through the same woods every afternoon and occasionally brought my camera along. No two days were alike and I saw summer fade to fall and fall turn to winter. Life, like seasons, is a progression of changes. Subtle or sweet, changes are imminent as no one can stop time. I now appreciate the everyday simplicities as much as the complexities that life brings.
