Parents’ Weekend

While the end of October may mean fall foliage and Halloween to many, to Milton Academy students the end of October means one thing: Parents’ Weekend. One of my favorite weekends of the year, Parents’ Weekend gives parents special insights to everyday life as a Milton student. On the Friday of Parents’ Weekend, my mom accompanied me to each of my classes, observing the lectures and even solving some calculus problems. After my school day ended, we ventured down to the ACC for an excellent lunch with friends and their parents. Parents also have the opportunity to meet with teachers and advisors and hear about all the great work we do. I enjoy this weekend so much because I can reunite with my parents after two months apart, introduce them to new friends, and show them everything Milton offers. These are some of the most vibrant days on the school calendar, as hundreds of Milton parents happily spend the day with their beloved children.

The best part about Parents’ Weekend is the amount of homework we receive for the weekend—none! Milton teachers give us the opportunity to relax, rest, and spend quality time with our families, while rejuvenating our brains halfway through the semester. With no schoolwork and Monday off, I went home to visit my family and friends. Parents’ Weekend leaves us fresh and ready to go for the remainder of the semester.
