Community Service at Milton By Cassidy

Among the many different clubs at Milton, the Community Service club is one that is very active throughout the year. The Community Service board consists of about 20 students, and almost the whole Milton community is involved in community service. Whether it is traveling to off-campus sites during free periods or helping at larger events held at Milton, such as Hoops for Haiti or Special Olympics, there are always volunteer opportunities for both Milton students and faculty. Over 250 students travel to off-campus sites during the week and another 200 students volunteer at on-campus events. Among the 30 off-campus sites are places where the students can teach art to elementary school classes, play with and walk homeless animals, tutor in various subjects, and work with disabled children. Usually students volunteer at these off-campus sites for a whole year, which allows the students to form close relationships with the children or people they help weekly. Community service is very present throughout the Milton community, illustrating Milton students’ desire to volunteer their help and give back.
