Disko Bay, showing Disko Island and the Nussuaq Pennisula to the north and the Greenland Ice Sheet to the east.  The major ice stream draining the Greeland Ice Sheet into Disko Bay is the Jacobshavn Glacier. The blue spots on the Ice Sheet are summer meltwater lakes, which periodically drain to the base of the ice sheet facilitating its movement toward to sea.
