Winter Dance Concert By: Sam

The annual winter Dance Concert takes place the weekend before spring break. The concert is the culmination of months of practice by around 70 students. When tickets became available, the Friday night show sold out in two hours, signifying the show’s buzz around campus. On each of the three nights, King Theater was nearly at full capacity as hundreds of students came out to support their peers. Dance Concert is one of my favorite weekend activities of the whole year because it is so much fun to watch my friends out there on the stage. Many of the dancers were dancing novices (in addition to being varsity athletes, debate champions and talented musicians) who simply decided to try something new. However, the quality of the dancing did not reflect that these students were having their dancing debuts. Some of the dancers are veteran dance performers whose talent and flair was on full display and amazed the energized crowd. Students choreographed most of the pieces, set to an array of music from hip-hop to oldies. Not only do current Milton the students at Milton come out to these shows, but many graduates return to cheer on their friends at Milton. And the opportunities to dance are not over yet; rehearsals for Spring Dance Concert start up in April.
