The Skills Center By Will

While Milton’s rigorous curriculum may appear daunting for an incoming freshman, there is always help available. The Skills Center, located on the bottom floor of the library, is one of the many resources students can use to enrich their academic experience. Whether one is looking for tutoring from a peer, a meeting with a teacher, or simply a quiet space to complete work, the Skills Center is a very useful tool. When I was a freshman, my geometry class was one that perplexed me. Initially, I thought there was little to no hope for me in that class. Noticing this, my teacher guided me to the Skills Center where we met on a weekly basis in this quiet and intimate learning space. Soon, I began to improve my skills with the topics I was struggling with and my experience in the class improved dramatically. Even today, as a Junior, I often schedule meetings with teachers available in the Skills center to help clear up a subject or an issue within a class. If you don’t think meeting with teachers is the best route for you to take, we have peer tutors. Peer tutors are always there to help you succeed. In all of the hustle and bustle at Milton, the Skills Center is a great place for one to slow down and focus on any academic issue that they are presented with. Milton is always there to try and help you succeed, and the Skills Center is an integral part of this culture.
