Gopie: Walking into the Wendy's in Quincy, I was surprised how fancy a fast food restaurant could look. There are two wall mounted televisions, calm lighting, and clean. The cashier seemed disinterested in her job and was not happy to take our orders so I gave the staff a 2. I ordered a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger and french fries from the value menu for $3. The meal took about five minutes to be prepared and served on a tray for you to take. Looking at the burger wrapped in paper, I noticed it was stained with grease instantly. Once I unwrapped the burger it was caked with oil which was unpleasing. I had to wipe the buns off with a napkin before my first bite. The patty was very small but the lettuce and tomatoes made it seem bigger. I could taste the freshness of the vegetables but the burger patty tasted burnt and old. Wendy's preaches freshness and non-frozen patties but we asked an employee and he said the burgers come frozen. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger but I could not taste the bacon, when I opened the burger there were two little strips of bacon. I ate a piece of the bacon separately but could not taste the bacon. It felt like bacon in my mouth but I was disappointed by how bland it tasted. I would recommend this restaurant to someone on the go looking for a cheap meal.
Chun: Everybody knows this burger joint but we decided to taste the burgers for those special individuals who haven't already. Wendy's is pretty close to campus with about a 10 minute drive and shares the same parking lot as Superchef. The restaurant is rather large, fitted to seat about fifty to sixty customers. The décor is pretty plain, wooden tables and chairs, with hanging lamps for lights and plenty of TVs. The restaurant was pretty empty when our group went on a Friday night.
I ordered what Wendy's calls its specialty burger, the Baconator. When I unwrapped the paper covering, the buns were greasy, however, the burger itself looked pretty appealing with the bacon glistening. I took a bite and immediately knew that the burger had been frozen. In fact, I asked one of the employees and she confirmed my suspicion. The Baconator didn't really taste like a burger, but rather, a glob of meat with processed cheese, lots of mayo and bacon. The only saving grace was its delicious and glistening bacon. The fries were mediocre at best and not really anything to talk about. My recommendation: stick to the Crispy Chicken sandwiches and the Spicy Chicken Nuggets.
Austin: For a quick, decent, low-priced meal, you can go to Wendys. I have never been a fan of fast food joints because I always leave feeling extremely fat, but Wendy's doesn't feel as bad as McDonalds or Burger King. The Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger from the value menu was only $2, and thats all it was worth, too. The bacon was almost non-existent, yet still tasty, while the patty was thin, as was the bun. You can really only taste the bacon, which says a lot since there seemed to be less than one strip on the entire burger. The bun was shiny with grease, so that was a minus in my book. However, I also ordered fries and a value chicken sandwich, both of which were a little above average. The chicken sandwich didn't seem as greasy, and the fries came out hot with a nice amount of salt. Overall, the food at Wendy's is not very filling, and the more food you eat, the worse you feel. I would only go to Wendys if you need to be back on campus quickly.
