Gopie: Shake shack in chestnut hill is a very popular burger joint for its famous green sign and amazing burgers and shakes. There are two problems with shake shack the lines and prices. We had to wait about 10 minutes to order the food and another 10 minutes for the food to be prepared. The meal was expensive the shack burger, black and white shake, and fries cost $14. Though discouraged by the price I was blown away by the food. The burgers were freshly cooked and the combination of tomato, lettuce, and shack sauce made for the best burger. The bun was soft which I prefer giving the shack burger a perfect score. The fries were average and needed a lot of ketchup. The shake was another great addition to the meal having the correct combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream. I am proud to say shake shack had the best burgers. A tip for shake shack customers is to secure a table before ordering.
Chun: I had high expectations coming into Shake Shack. In middle school, I paid several visits to the recently opened Shake Shack on the Upper East Side of NYC. The lines often went out the door and around the corner, but still, the wait was worth those delectable Shack burgers. The Shake Shack on Chestnut Hill looks exactly the same as the one on the Upper East Side. Pretty much the same décor: wooden walls, benches, seats, banners hanging around, TVs. It also has an outside eating area which consists of plastic chairs and tables with an umbrella sticking out of the middle of the table.
If you haven't gone to Shake Shack yet, the experience is quite unique. You order your food and then are given a device that shakes when your food is ready (they call your name as well). Remembering the delicious taste of Shake Shack, I ordered four Shack Burgers (hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, American cheese and a secret sauce). When my device shook and I went to pick up the metal tray with the four burgers on it, I was excited. The burgers wrapped in paper looked great. But when I bit into it, I was disappointed; it didn't give the same taste as the one in NYC. I looked at the patty and I discovered the reason for this off taste. The burger looked either fried or burnt. This phenomenon was consistent with each burger that I dove into. But don't get me wrong, the Shack Burgers still tasted delicious. The fries weren't the best either, but I knew from previous experience that the fries weren't Shake Shack's forte. My recommendation: come here for good Shack Burgers but go to New York City for the best. Also, skip the fries.
Austin: Although the burger was not awful, I was still disappointed by the Shake Shack experience. The burger was not presented well, the top patty was almost split completely in half, and the cheese was spilling over the side of the burger. I also came to Shake Shack for the crinkle-cut fries, but to my surprise, the restaurant was serving thin stringy fries, which are my least favorite. When eating the burger, it felt incredibly greasy, which did not help my appetite. For all the hype that Shake Shack gets for their burgers and fries, I was disappointed. Do go there for the shakes though.
