Reviews
Gopie: Joes was one of the best burger experiences I had during the reviews. We were greeted by a friendly waitress happy to take our to-go orders. It took approximately 10 minutes for the food to be prepared. The only knock I have on joes was the price, it cost about $13 for the meal. For $13 you get a side of bread and butter and a burger and fries. Personally, I did not mind the high costs because my favorite part of the meal was the bread and butter. The burger and fries actually blew away my expectations. The juicy burger was topped with tomatoes and lettuce. The burger was held together with a big, soft bun. The bun was different and enhanced the fresh taste of the burger. I would recommend joes to anyone who's in SSP and looking for a good meal other than the food court choices.
Chun: I've always seen Joe's American Grill at the South Shore Plaza mall but I've never been inside. When our group stepped in, we found ourselves in a dark, bar-like restaurant. Joe's had the makings of a regular restaurant (wooden chairs and tables) but everything was black, making the already darkened room darker. The restaurant looked as if it were part bar part restaurant, meaning a popular attraction for older customers. Our group was greeted by a friendly waitress at the entrance.
I ordered the Joe's American Beef Burger hamburger with fries on the side. The order total was very expensive (so keep this in mind) at about $13. However, this order did come with a loaf of soft, buttery bread and a side of whipped butter. The loaf was very delicious just by itself. Then, the burger came. The burger had an unusual bun which was fluffy and buttery. The burger in general was pretty good: juicy, good bun and well-cooked. I had no complaints about the fries either. The combination was above average and one of the better burgers of the project.
Austin: First off, the loaf of bread that we were served at the beginning of the meal was so delicious that Chief Gopie ended up finishing ¾ of the loaf in 2 minutes. The American Cheeseburger took 15 minutes to make and seemed to be a little overpriced at $13, although worth the cost. The burger was large with a fluffy, toasted bun and tasted quite fresh, from the patty, to the toppings, to the bun. The burger was seasoned well and had a great balance of patty, toppings, and bun. The use of one hefty piece of lettuce, instead of shredded lettuce, made the burger very easy and clean to eat. The fries received a high rating as well, for they tasted very good with nice seasoning and a thick-cut just like I like them.
