Gopie: The Tavern is a country club restaurant that has a beautiful view of the Boston skyline. The drive to the tavern in the spring is very scenic with the greens freshly cut. The country club aspect creates an awkward vibe for students not a part of the club. The cheeseburger meal took about 15 minutes to prepare but the burger was well worth the wait. The cheeseburger was cooked medium-well enabling the meat to release it's natural flavors and seasoning. The bun was big enough to hold all of the condiments without interfering with the taste. On the other hand, the shoestring fries were awful. They were cold and hard and had no taste even with ketchup. If you choose to eat at the Tavern make sure to dress nicely or the staff will give you looks. I would recommend that you dine at the Tavern in the spring because the view is so beautiful.
Chun: Finding the Tavern was a headache. The Tavern is located on the Granite Links Golf Course, meaning that those customers who don't look like golfers are weirdly looked upon. Initially, I thought the Tavern would be a pretty laid-back place to eat. But when our group entered the restaurant, everyone was well-dressed (probably because the restaurant was located on a golf course) and proper. The decor of the restaurant was pretty fancy: chandeliers for lighting sources, tables with vases in the middle, well-dressed servers, nice plating and silverware, etc. The restaurant looked a quiet and nice place to chat and eat a meal in peace after a long round of golf.
I ordered the regular burger and fries and it came out to be less expensive than I thought at $11. The menu even said the components of the burger (which was nice): Black Angus burger, griddled deli roll, lettuce, tomato and onion. When I bit into the burger, the juiciness of the burger exploded in my mouth. The burger was thick, well-cooked and above all, delicious. The fries on the side were shoestring; my favorite. They were lightly salted and well-fried, meaning that no ketchup was needed. Overall, the Tavern was one of my favorite restaurant, if not my favorite, and I definitely recommend it if you are feeling fancy and are willing to spend a little bit more for an amazing and filling burger.
Austin: This burger was certainly worth the price. On top of that, the view was incredible, as it looked down onto Boston and green space. The restaurant was large and relatively upscale, and the burger was impressive too. The patty was thick and fresh, tasting like a burger from a grill. The bun was delicious too, as it was fluffy but did not diminish the taste of the burger. Unfortunately, the fries were awful in my opinion. They were shoestring fries with salt and other seasoning, but I did not like them because there was not enough potato in the fries and they weren't crispy enough. Although the fries did not satisfy, I would still recommend the Tavern as a nice meal for a family or group of students.
