Flexibility
Importance of Flexibility:
Mustang Power highly emphasizes proper stretching and good flexibility
for its athletes. Flexibility is very important for the following
reasons:
Improved Physical Performance: A flexible person is able to move
with greater range of motion while using less energy to do so.
Reduced Risk of Injury: Flexibility decreases resistance in tissue
structures, making it less likely that an athlete will go beyond
the resistance threshold and cause an injury.
Reduced Muscle Soreness: Static stretching especially decreases
muscle soreness after exercise.
Improved Muscle Coordination: Nerve impulse velocity is improved
with stretching.
Static
Static stretching involves holding a stretched position. You stretch
to the farthest point and then hold the position.

Dynamic
Dynamic stretching is stretching with movement which gradually
increases your reach or extension until you reach your maximum.
Dynamic does not attempt to go beyond your maximum range. Dynamic
is a great way to stretch because it warms up your muscles as you
stretch.
Ballistic is another type of stretching and is what dynamic was
formed from. Ballistic involves using your body to move your limb
beyond its normal range of motion. Ballistic stretching is often
associated with bouncing while stretching.
